Gibraltar’s WWII Experience
The WW2 Tunnels is an immersive WW2 experience within the tunnel system of Gibraltar. The tunnels are home to historical information and artifacts. The tunnels also doubles as an event space that can be hired out for events and conferences.
This was a brand new website build. The team approached Creative Brand Design to create a digital presence that captured the atmosphere and drama of the exhibition space.

The Scope
What They Wanted
The WW2 Tunnels events and exhibition centre was still under construction when we started on the website build. The team asked us to develop a website that reflected their emerging brand identity, captured the atmosphere of the space, and aligned with all signage and marketing materials planned for the venue.
What We Did
Discovery
The team at WW2 tunnels already had some fantastic branding and of course historical imagery and video footage, so this was a great foundation for starting the site. We had a look at some other exhibition centres and historical sites as part of our initial research, but the journey of the site was clear from the start.

Design
We created wireframes for the website based off our initial research in the discovery. There were 2 main journeys for the site; one for users visiting and wanting to find out information about the exhibition and another for users visiting the site to book the space for events and conferences. It was important that both journeys were clear and intuitive.
Design Breakdown
Development
The website was built on WordPress using custom Gutenberg blocks, giving the team flexibility to update the site with new FAQs or imagery. We kept animation and interactivity to a minimum, allowing the imagery to do the talking and giving users space to absorb the content without distraction. However, we did include some subtle movement and interactive elements to enhance the experience.
How did we make WW2 Tunnels unique?
The historical imagery and video footage are what truly sets this website apart. Combined with the textured backgrounds and vibrant colour palette, the whole website experience feels like a piece of living history, while still remaining modern, engaging, and informative.
